This holiday season, choose to shop local at the Department of Trade and Industry’s Bagsakan in Duty Free Fiesta Corner located inside the Duty Free Fiestamall, Parañaque City now ongoing until December 30, 2022. In collaboration with the DTI Regional Operations Group and Duty-Free Philippines Corporation (DFPC), the Bagsakan initially features 18 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from Pangasinan, Bataan, Laguna, Cavite, Palawan, Sorsogon, and the NCR.
The Bagsakan at Duty free Fiesta Mall features a curated selection of Filipino products which include Philippine coffee, snack items, bottled and packed seafood, decors made from sustainable indigenous materials, and stylish local fashion accessories. Anticipating the arrival of OFWs, foreign tourists, and domestic travelers this holiday season, this Bagsakan initiative aims to showcase the best Philippine products while helping local MSMEs expand their market reach and generate more income.
The Bagsakan Special Project started as a crisis response project to help MSMEs, farmers, fruit growers, and social cooperatives sustain their livelihood at the onset of the CoVid-19 pandemic in 2020. It further reinforced the DTI’s Buy Local, Go Lokal! advocacy campaign, encouraging collaborative partnerships with the private sector. Each Bagsakan event features a select number of MSMEs from different regions who sell their processed food, fresh produce, and non-food items in various venues such as the DTI parking lot, malls, and industrial parks.
As one of DTI’s retail partners, the DFPC is more than a purveyor of imported products; it has also proven to be an effective platform to sell local products from homegrown MSMEs. To date, there are five Go Lokal! outlets operated by the DFPC with two outlets located at NAIA International Airport Terminals 1 and 3 (Departures Area).
